1. What is the Strike Force GPS Solution?

Strike Force GPS is a wireless communication hardware, paired with internet-based asset Location Services, which provides real-time asset tracking and fleet management tools for all of your company's vehicles, fleets, mobile and fixed assets.

  2. What is Asset Location and Recovery Service?

This simply allows authorized users in your company (dispatchers, drivers and managers) to precisely track mobile and fixed assets - cars, vans or trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and marine assets for example - for improved scheduling and route planning.

What makes this possible is an onboard tracking and communication device. This small box collects GPS position data and calculates speed, then transmits all data to Strike Force GPS servers over the wireless data network.

Authorized users can access that data on any internet-enabled PC using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later. Location and path information is available in map form, also in a variety of print-ready report formats.

Strike Force GPS's web-based solution offers unique utility and convenience. No additional hardware or software is needed at your office. All it takes is Internet access with common web browsers.

  3. How Does GPS Work?

GPS stands for Global Positioning System. The GPS receiver has a small antenna that receives signals from a constellation of GPS satellites. Using the timing of signal reception from multiple satellites, the receiver calculates its own position, speed and elevation.

GPS satellite signals are transmitted free of charge by the U.S. Government. GPS receivers come in all shapes and sizes suitable for boating, wilderness hiking and other outdoor activities.

The Strike Force GPS solution combines a GPS receiver with a wireless modem. The radio transmits GPS-calculated positions back over a wireless network. Location and course data is then uploaded to the Strike Force GPS web site. Authorized users monitor vehicle movement on maps and reports displaying route information, stop location/ duration and other valuable information.

  4. Is the Strike Force GPS solution appropriate for both small and large fleets?

Absolutely. Strike Force GPS requires no up-front investment in servers or software, so the Strike Force GPS service is equally cost-effective for one to one million or more! Suitability depends on purpose, not on price.

  5. Is Strike Force GPS map and report information real-time?

It's near real-time. The in-vehicle Strike Force GPS unit transmits GPS position data to the Strike Force GPS servers, which in turn updates your Strike Force GPS web pages. Updates are transmitted at standard intervals. This provides timely location updates, while avoiding the data-overload problems that come with continuous position updates.

The Strike Force GPS web site maps display asset position as updates are received. You control settings for how often the maps update. So depending on how frequently maps update - also depending on when vehicle reports were last received - location data can be virtually real-time!

  6. What hardware and/or software do I need to use my Strike Force GPS solution?

The hardware consists of a small Strike Force GPS Unit installed in each mobile or fixed asset you want to monitor. Negligible power - drawn from the vehicle's own electrical system - is used. The Strike Force GPS unit includes an integrated GPS receiver and antenna, plus a wireless data radio connected to a cellular antenna.

Software is a secure suite of web pages accessible to authorized users only, available on any PC running Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later. No other hardware or software is required.

  7. Why should I consider the Strike Force GPS solution? How do I benefit by using it?

You simply select "Locate Asset" from your secure web browser and within a few seconds your Strike Force GPS solution pinpoints the asset. If this is a mobile asset that is on the move you receive location, speed and heading!
